Billy Byrnes is one of Kilkenny’s most famous public houses, more of a social club than a bar and a popular meeting place for locals young and old with a reputation for good beer, good food and a warm welcome. During the day, Billy Byrnes main bar is a big, bright, welcoming space where you can eat breakfast and lunch, check your e-mail, or just meet friends and linger over coffee. At night, the bar fills up with a mixture of locals and visitors, hipsters and sports stars, and to all of them, we serve a wide selection of craft beers and spirits from Kilkenny and further afield. Out the back, there’s a dedicated live music room, and a funky beer garden furnished with rescued sofas and home-made tables, like a beach bar in the middle of the city! There’s even an old double-decker bus, converted to a kitchen, serving tasty street food from around the world and a real wood-fired oven turning out fresh, authentic pizzas.

As well as being ready to pull a pint at any time, all out staff are trained baristas. All our coffee is fresh ground to order, and we have a wide selection of snacks and sandwiches to tempt every palette.
In our big, bright main space, you’ll find comfy chairs, free wi-fi, daily newspapers and board games to keep everyone amused. We pride ourselves on bring family friendly – children and dogs are welcome during the day.

We love our food, and we pride ourselves in preparing fresh, local and seasonal food whenever possible. Whether you’re a carnivore, a vegetarian or a vegan, Chef Podge Meade and his team can cook up something to tempt you. As well as a well-equipped kitchen, we also have our popular Bula Bus in the back, serving tasty street food, and a real wood-fired stove for making fresh pizza. Ever morning, we serve up our big, hearty breakfasts, during the day, we offer a wide range of meals. snacks, soups and sandwiches, and from Thursday to Saturday, we serve up an evening menu of contemporarydishes from around the world, with an emphasis on freshness and big flavours.
